Profile: Dan Drew

Dan's theatrical experience began as an actor, studying in New York with Uta Hagen, Sonia Moore's American Stanislavski Academy and Jeffrey Zeiner's improvisational workshop. An Equity actor, he has performed in over a dozen Off- Broadway productions and numerous tours. Dan joined the Rutgers Newark staff in 1994, during the time of the federation of the Rutgers and NJIT theater programs. He currently serves as resident designer for the theater program and, since his arrival, has designed settings and lighting for 60 departmental productions, as well as numerous dance and music concerts, student productions and guest artist performances. He serves as an instructor for acting, technical theater, stage management, directing and scenic design courses. His directing credits include the New York City Fringe Festival, the New Hope Arts Festival, and thirteen productions for the Rutgers/ NJIT Theater Division. His most recent project was Hell Heat No Fury, the Rap and Roll Story of Medea, a new work that he adapted, wrote music and lyrics for, and directed. The show premiered in November of this year. Theater is Dan's life. He thinks it, he breathes it, and lives it. It is his life.
