UNESCO Chair Pilot Year on Gender (Spring 2013)

During the 2012-2013, CGHR launched a Gender Program as part of the pilot for its UNESCO Chair in Genocide Prevention. Specifically, the Gender Program explores the intersections of gender, genocide, and human rights abuses past and present. The aim of this program is to mainstream gender analyses in CGHR initiatives and make sure that gender is one of the key components of our work on genocide research and prevention. CGHR is committed to addressing how gender cuts across all dimensions of genocide, human rights, justice, and peace education. As such, the pilot year on gender signals a recognition that gender is a critical factor in all phases of genocidal violence, including the building of pathways to peace as well as prevention.
