The Teacher-Scholar Program

The Teacher-Scholar program is a cooperative project between Rutgers- Newark and Rutgers- New Brunswick. Each year, the Women’s and Gender Studies Department in New Brunswick nominates a PhD student in women’s and gender studies to serve as a “teacher-scholar”. This student teaches courses for the Rutgers Newark Women’s and Gender Studies program. Most teacher-scholars teach one of the basic or introductory courses, along with a topics course on a topic related to the PhD student’s dissertation.

This program has been in place since 2008, and provides the teacher-scholar with teaching experience, and the Women’s and Gender Studies program in Newark additional teaching resources.
