Te, Taiwan

My name is Te-Sheng Huang and I am from Chiayi County, Taiwan. I received both bachelor and master degrees in Architecture separately from two universities in Taiwan. After that, I worked in an architecture firm for over three years and became an architect in 2009.

I attended two PALS's classes since January 2009: TOEFL Test Preparation and English for Academic Purposes. I enjoyed both classes because they enhanced my confidence in English conversations with teachers or others and improved my writing and listening skills. I particularly appreciated the research course offered in English for Academic Purposes. Through a hands-on research project, I learned several needed research skills such as identifying and browsing databases as well as understanding different formats for academic papers.

I am currently a doctoral Candidate in the joint PhD program of Urban Systems among three universities: New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Rutgers-Newark and University of University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). In addition, my dissertation topic is about design, management and use of public space. Once I receive this degree, I am keen to look for a teaching or researching position in academic institutions or work for government or private consulting firms regarding urban design and planning.
