Psychology is an academic and applied discipline involving the scientific study of mental functions and behavior. Psychologists study such phenomena as perception, cognition, emotion, personality, behavior, and interpersonal relationships. The Department of Psychology on the Rutgers Newark Campus has a nationally recognized graduate program by U.S. News & World Report, and is primarily a research institution which offers a variety of opportunities for those interested in gaining hands on experience in the many different disciplines of psychology
