Profile: Kristin Canzano Pinyan

Kristin Canzano Pinyan is currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of History at Rutgers University in New Brunswick with a certificate in Higher Education Leadership. She earned her BA in English and Medieval Studies from Georgetown University and MA in Medieval Studies from Fordham University. Before arriving at Rutgers, she taught high school history at Saint Vincent Academy in Newark. Her dissertation on the late medieval English gentry is entitled “Social Mobility and the Meaning of Gentility in Fifteenth-Century England.” Her research interests include the English gentry, social mobility, the intersection between gender and social status, and social display during the late Middle Ages. She is particularly drawn to questions that straddle the boundary between the medieval and early modern.
