The Institute for Women’s Leadership (IWL) is pleased to announce a credit-bearing internship for the 2013-2014 Academic Year. The intern would begin late August 2013 and continue through May 2014.

Job Description

The IWL GROW Program Assistant will work with the IWL’s Girls Realizing Opportunities in the World (GROW) Program. GROW is a mentoring program that pairs undergraduate women with youth in the foster care system. Primary responsibilities will be work with the Program Coordinator to design curriculum and implement programming for mentor group mentoring.  Other duties would include overseeing program evaluation, assist in maintaining a program budget, and administrative maintenance. Interns are eligible for course credit.

Qualifications

Applicants should be detail-oriented and independent individuals with excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Experience in event or program planning and management, as well as experience working with youth is desired. The ability to work within a large team is a must. Education related to Women’s & Gender Studies, Social Work, or Education is preferred. Applicants should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Interest in taking the course Mentoring, Leadership & Young Women’s Lives (988:399), of which this program is linked, during the Fall 2013 semester is preferable.
