Program Overview

As part of a larger community, The Honors College at Rutgers-Newark allows undergraduate students from Criminal Justice, the College of Nursing, Newark College of Arts & Sciences, Rutgers Business School, and the School of Public Affairs and Administration to take advantage of all the opportunities offered by one of the country's oldest, largest and most well respected research institutions while getting individualized attention. Students have greater access to faculty and staff, smaller class sizes, and are a part of a socially vibrant atmosphere typically found at smaller liberal arts colleges. Being a part of our Honors College places you in the best position on campus to sharpen your mind, broaden your horizons, develop useful professional skills and contacts, and play an active and constructive role in the world of which you are a part.

Here are some of our program benefits:

  • Our students are among the most involved in student government, campus-wide organizations and events and often become the most prolific and well-known student leaders on the Rutgers-Newark campus.
  • Consideration for merit-based Honors College only scholarship assistance as well as one-on-one advisement for selecting and applying to outside national scholarships such as Rhodes, Barry M. Goldwater, Fulbright, Truman, and others.
