Paula Tallal, Ph.D. received her B.A. from New York University and her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from Cambridge University in England. She completed additional research training as a post-doctoral fellow at The John Hopkins School of Medicine, where she subsequently was appointed to the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Psychology, Neurology and Pediatrics. Tallal was recruited by Rutgers University to co-found and co-direct the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience.

For the past 30 years, Dr. Tallal has led NIH and NSF funded multidisciplinary research teams studying the neurobiological basis of speech, language and reading development and disorders. She has published over 200 scientific papers and reviews as well as 3 edited volumes. Dr. Tallal has been recognized for her academic as well as clinical expertise in the area of developmental cognitive disabilities.
