CALL FOR PAPER PROPOSALS

FROM GRADUATE STUDENTS AT RUTGERS-NEWARK FOR

FEDERATED HISTORY DEPARTMENT ANNUAL GRADUATE STUDENT CONFERENCE

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 28, 2012  

 

The Federated Department of History graduate students are happy to present the first annual student conference held at Rutgers-Newark for Rutgers-Newark students.  The theme for the conference this year is non-specific as long as any proposals touch upon a historical topic within the last three hundred years.  We welcome a wide range of proposals from students in the humanities within this broad theme.  All submissions will be reviewed by both students and faculty to ensure the highest quality of work.  A panel of judges will moderate the presentations followed by an address from keynote speaker Professor Lorrin Thomas, Rutgers-Camden.  The best paper/presentation will receive a merit award.

Students are asked to submit a 250-word abstract byFebruary 15, 2012 for a 15-20 minute presentation (approximately 10 double spaced pages due laterto gautham.rao@njit.edu.  Proposals should include the title of the paper and presenter’s name.  We also welcome panel proposals of three to four papers.  Please consider the following prompts in your proposal:

 

All papers must have clear arguments.

 

Identify the central historical issue or problem that prompted your choice of topic.

 

Describe the contents of your paper concisely.

 

What is your main conclusion?
